Versatile Award Rules & Application
The GPCA Versatile German Pinscher Award Program (VGPA) was developed to recognize dogs that have demonstrated great breadth of achievement. A primary goal of these awards is to encourage German Pinscher owners to preserve the German Pinscher as a structurally sound multi-purpose working dog.
Category & Point Requirements:
VERSATILE GERMAN PINSCHER (VGP) REQUIREMENTS: The Versatility Award requires 7 or more stars (*) in a minimum of three of the categories listed above.
VERSATILE GERMAN PINSCHER EXCELLENT (VGPX) REQUIREMENTS: The Versatility Excellent Award requires 12 or more stars (*) in a minimum of four of the categories listed above with points from at least one of the Companion Event categories (either Category 2 – Obedience/Rally or Category 3 – Agility).
General Requirements:
GPCA membership (in good standing) of owner or co-owner at the time of application is required. AKC or equivalent CKC titles accepted along with USDAA, NADAC, CPE, & UKC agility. Stars will count only once per level of difficulty.
Awards will be processed annually and presented at the GPCA Annual Awards Banquet for the previous calendar year’s achievement. Award recipients will be further recognized in the national catalog, the club website, and the Pinscher Press that is published after the National Specialty Show. Versatility awards will be standardized plaques with the VGPX being the elevated award. Health testing will not be required to obtain a plaque.
In the event the VPG and VGPX are achieved in the same calendar year, the GPCA member has the option to skip the VGP award and apply for the VGPX award OR apply for the VGP award and wait to apply for the VGPX award the following calendar year. In no circumstances will both the VGP and VGPX plaques be awarded in the same year. This rule also applies to dogs that have already achieved VGPX status at the initiation of this program.
The GPCA Performance Committee will have authority to add Categories and/or Titling classes as AKC adds new titling classes. Additionally, the Performance Committee will have the authority to add higher level Versatility Awards in the future as the need arises. Amendments, titles, and sports additions will be accomplished annually and will recognize titles obtained prior to official incorporation into the program.
Upload & submit the completed application form along with documentation (copy of AKC/CKC/Other title certificates or AKC report) of each title/accomplishment.
Additionally, a plaque or medallion will be awarded if a Health certification (OFA or Penn Hip, EYE, and Vwd) is provided with the application.

Submissions for the previous calendar year must be received by the Performance Events Committee a minimum of 4 months prior to the GPCA Annual Awards Banquet. If the Annual Awards Banquet is held prior to May, a modified cutoff date will be published. Please direct all questions regarding this program to the GPCA Performance Events Committee.
